HURRICANE, W.Va. — A West Virginia fire department plans to provide ambulance services for the first time in years after receiving a donated rig.

Hurricane Fire & Rescue announced Thursday that the ambulance, donated by MVB Bank last year, passed its inspection and was ALS certified by the West Virginia Office of EMS.

In recent years, the department has provided ALS rapid response services, although it used to run an ambulance service in the past. Department officials are hopeful the donated rig will soon hit the road to provide additional medical transport services to the Hurricane area.

“While we are still working to determine exactly what type of ambulance service the department will be providing, we are one step closer to providing an additional service to our community,” the department’s Facebook post read.
